Dartmoor provides a refreshing contrast to the maritime delights of Plymouth. The tour lasts about 2.5 to 3 hour, with optional stops. Leaving Plymouth, the wild vistas of ancient tors, pretty villages and ponies stretch ahead.The quaint market town of Tavistock gives an insight to visitors of moor life, before taking the high road to Princetown, the location of one of the country’s most infamous prisons, within the sound of the call of Conan Doyle’s “Hound of the Baskervilles”.
You will be following closely in the footsteps of Sir Francis Drake, WWII pilots and the “Beast of Dartmoor”. As you reflect on your experiences, you will have the option of a traditional Devonshire cream tea.
